Higher power density is a key benefit aiding engineers’ ongoing efforts to shrink their product footprint and thickness and thus build smaller micro hard disc drives, handsets, headsets, handheld instruments and other portable devices. By delivering 500mA in a tiny, 2 x 2 x 0.55mm package, AnalogicTech’s AAT1120 step-down converter allows designers to build smaller, thinner systems and still provide all the features and current found in larger footprint devices.

Power density is an increasingly important consideration in a wide variety of high performance handheld systems like smart phones, GPS systems and portable media players that use high capacity batteries. Addressing this need, a linear charger from AnalogicTech offers the industry’s highest charge-current-to-solution-footprint ratio while the integration of the company’s intelligent digital thermal loop feature enables the host system to use a high current linear charger without the risk of pulse charging the battery.

Portable system designers who want to guarantee that the battery charges at maximum available current during simultaneous system operation must typically build that functionality into the system with discrete components. By continuously monitoring the power needs of the system during operation and automatically adjusting charge current accordingly, AnalogicTech’s AAT3670 delivers the highest possible charge current to the battery and thereby minimises battery charge time, while reducing parts count, BOM and PCB board space requirements.
